Know your farmers. Know your food.
Welcome, we are the Borduas - one of the few remaining families in the area that have held steadfast to the tradition and livelihood of farming.
The food you and your family consume is of utmost importance to us. That's why we're committed to growing our crops with practices we feel good about feeding our own children. When you lend your support to our farm, you're not just a customer - you become part of our cherished family.
We believe that we're doing more than just farming; we're sowing seeds of community, fostering relationships that go beyond the field. Your support plays an integral role in this endeavor, and we are deeply grateful for your contribution. Thank you for being a part of our vibrant community.
Our Story
In 1990, Fran Bordua traded his carpenter's tools for a farmer's hat, turning his dream of owning a farm into reality. What started as an ambitious vision soon grew into Bordua Farms LLC, a thriving family-owned farm nestled in the heart of Connecticut's scenic River Valley. Fran's dedication to quality farming was quickly recognized, earning Bordua Farms a reputation for its high-quality broadleaf tobacco sought after by top cigar manufacturers worldwide.
Today, Fran's sons Justin and Nathan co-own and operate Bordua Farms, continuing their father's legacy while introducing innovative farming practices and expanding the farm's offerings.
Our Philosophy
At Bordua Farms, we believe in the power of local agriculture and its ability to enrich communities. We're committed to promoting farm-to-table living and ensuring food security within our community. Every crop we grow, every product we sell, reflects our commitment to quality, sustainability, and community enrichment.
We're more than farmers—we're stewards of the land. We're dedicated to creating an exciting, enjoyable experience for our visitors and making a positive impact through our farming practices.
Whether you're visiting our farm stand, participating in our CSA program, or sipping a cup of coffee from our weekend coffee cart, when you choose Bordua Farms, you're choosing to support local agriculture and make a difference in your community. Join us in celebrating the beauty, bounty, and community spirit of farm-to-table living.
Our Growing Practice
We know that the food your family consumes directly impacts your overall health. That's why we're dedicated to growing our produce using methods we'd trust for our own family's meals.
Our commitment to sustainable practices leads us to growing our produce with organic practices. Transparency is also at the core of what we do, and we openly share that three of our products - Sweet Corn (noted on the EWG’s Clean 15 list), Squash, and Pumpkins - are grown using conventional methods. However, we continually strive to adopt better practices for these crops as well. While we aim to have all our crops grown organically, we believe in celebrating progress over perfection. Thus, our produce is primarily grown organically (not certified).
